Virtual Erg Workouts

UVRF is pleased to offer Virtual Erg Workouts (VEWs) from November 2022 through April 2023. The workouts are held Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 6:30 to 7:30 AM using zoom. Recordings of each workout are also available for people who cannot make the 6:30 start time. Follow along or just row at your own pace. BikeErgs are also welcome as well as any other fitness device of your choice! UVRF membership is not required – invite your friends.

One 4-week session corresponding to the Concept2 Holiday Challenge, https://log.concept2.com/challenges/holiday, will run from November 28 to December 24. Enter your Row, Bike, or Ski Erg numbers on the Concept2 logbook and convert your meters into charitable donations!

An 8-week session (32 workouts, VEW1) will be offered from January 2 – February 25, 2022.

Two 4-week sessions will follow (16 workouts each): VEW2 March 6 – April 1 and VEW3 April 3 – 29.

The VEWs are open to UVRF members and non-members. All ages and experience levels welcome. (Minors will need their parent/guardian to register them.)

An introduction to good indoor rowing (erging) technique  by Linda Muri

Are you new to rowing or have you been away from it for a while? Learn how to get the most out of your Indoor Rowing Machine in this hour-long video from coach Linda Muri.  You will learn how to sit properly on your erg and position your feet for maximum comfort.  The complete rowing stroke from the catch, through the drive to the finish, and through the recovery back to the catch is shown along with proper (and improper) body positions along the way.  An overview of the Concept 2 performance monitor is also given for those who want to keep track of their workouts and learn how to coach themselves to better form
