All UVRF coaches who coach more than 10 times per year must comply with the UVRF coaching requirements, which include the following:

New for 2025 all UVRF coaches must be Level 1 certified by USRowing.

From USRowing – Level 1

Level 1 is for individuals aged 16 and older that are new to coaching rowing, as well as un-certified coaches with less than 3 years experience coaching rowing. A basic knowledge of rowing is assumed. Un-certified coaches with 3+ years of coaching experience may proceed directly to the Level 1 Exam without enrolling in the Level 1 course first. Starting January 1, 2025, Level 1 course will be FREE for Championship Members and cost $99 for Basic Members. Since a Championship membership is $65, it makes sense to became a Championship member. If you already have a Basic Membership, you can upgrade.
