Novice Sweep 2025

M/W/F  5:30-7:00PM

The Novice Sweep program is open to all with no rowing experience. Rowers will learn the basic rowing stroke on land and will advance to an 8-oared boat, where each rower has one oar. The boat is steered by a coxswain and will be accompanied by a motor launch. During the course, rowers will learn the basic rowing technique, boat handling skills, and water safety. Regular attendance is required and participants must be at Kendal and ready to row at program start time.  After completion of this program there will be opportunities to continue rowing which you can discuss with the coach.

The classes will meet on M/W/F from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Kendal Riverfront Park in Hanover.

Participants must be members of United States Rowing Association (USRA). A swim test and SafeSport are required. The UVRF membership fee is waived for the Novice Sweep Program.
