Novice Sweep 1:  T/TH  5:30 to 7:00 PM and  SAT 8:30-10:00 AM, June 6 – July 1

Novice Sweep 2:  T/TH  5:30 to 7:00 PM, July 11 – August 17

The Novice Sweep program is open to all with no rowing experience. Rowers will learn the basic rowing stroke on land and will advance to an 8-oared boat, where each rower has one oar. The boat is steered by a coxswain and will be accompanied by a motor launch. During the course, rowers will learn the basic rowing technique, boat handling skills, and water safety. Regular attendance is required and participants must be at Kendal and ready to row at program start time.  After completion of this program there will be opportunities to continue rowing which you can discuss with the coach.

The classes will meet on T/TH/SAT starting June 6 to July 1 for Session 1, and then T/TH only starting July 11 to August 17 for Session 2. The program will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on T/TH and 8:30-10:00 AM on SAT at the Kendal Waterfront Park in Hanover.  Coaches: Luke Rein, Austin Andersen, Joe Jones

The UVRF membership fee is waived for the Novice Sweep program but is required for other UVRF programs. Those who are enrolling for the second time this season in the novice program must complete a swim test and join the USRA. New to the novice program you will be asked to sign a waiver of liability.
