The Novice Intensive Sweep program is open to adult rowers with no rowing experience. Rowers will learn the basic rowing stroke on land and will advance to an 8-oared boat, where each rower has one oar. The boat is steered by a coxswain and will be accompanied by a motor launch. During the course, rowers will learn the basic rowing technique, boat handling skills, and water safety. Regular attendance is required.

The classes will meet on six consecutive weekdays, Monday through Monday of the next week, starting Monday, June 6 and continuing through Monnday, June 13. The program will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Kendal Waterfront Park in Hanover. Once participants complete the Novice Intensive course, they can sign up for the summer Coached Big Boat Rowing program.
