Note that passing the Captain&#8217;s test allows members (assuming they have paid the appropriate equipment fees) access to club recreational singles and doubles as well as to racing singles (Peinert 25 and 26 and the Vespoli singles). For use of racing doubles and quads additional certifications are required. Tester can show you.<\/li>\n<li>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Know where the logbook is and sign yourself out before launching. Sign in after the boat is put away.<\/li>\n<li>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Remove the boat from the rack without damaging it or adjacent shells (either solo or with a partner)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Carry boat to the sculling dock<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Put the boat in the water without hitting the skeg on the dock<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Place oars in oar locks correctly<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Get in to the boat<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Launch the boat away from the middle of the dock without a helper<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Row 100 strokes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Demonstrate ability to navigate and steer<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Check the boat down without flipping<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Turn boat around<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Back the boat down<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Land the boat without a helper<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Remove oars and return boat to assigned rack facing in the correct direction<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Describe the traffic pattern on the river including launching and landing pattern<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Describe known water hazards<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Describe unsafe weather conditions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Describe what to do if the boat flips<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Describe rights of way and passing instructions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Describe how to handle powerboat wakes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All UVRF scullers who want to row a scull unsupervised need to pass the Captain&#8217;s test.
